Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri is increasingly gaining attention for his starring performances for the Potters this season, to this point scoring three and assisting a further five. The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan winger is now being linked with a host of clubs and What Are The Odds looks at the odds on where the Swiss international could go next.

Still only 26, the once highly-rated Shaqiri has found himself a fixture at Stoke since signing for the club from Inter in 2015, but with the club languishing in and around the mid-table area could it be that they decide to cash in or the player himself decides it’s time to return to playing in European midweek games? There’s no shortage of clubs being linked in the market via BetVictor.
Arsenal are the current favourites for the Swiss international’s signature with odds of 4/1 (5.00) - there haven’t been many rumblings of such a move transpiring, but with the Gunners previously interested in Riyad Mahrez at Leicester, Shaqiri could be the alternative if they are seeking a new wide-man.
Newcastle United, without sounding disrespectful, are the sideways choice at this point, however with prospective new owners meaning more ambition and funds available then the project to guide the Magpies back into Europe under Rafa Benitez could be just the challenge to tempt Shaqiri out of the potteries. Priced at 6/1 (7.00) it’s by no means a move that is anywhere near close.
Everton, Tottenham and Liverpool are a little further behind at 8/1 (9.00) - the Toffee’s current league woes will likely rule them out completely, but Spurs and Liverpool would be extremely interesting choices, offering Champions League football and title aspirations. However, both sides are pretty stacked in the midfield - especially so at Anfield so whether these clubs are genuinely interested or just making up the market numbers is yet to be seen.
West Ham at 10/1 (11.0) are another interesting shout, despite some poor form in the Premier League and a potentially short term manager in David Moyes, the project and the stadium package could appeal - form leading up to the transfer window in January could make or break the Hammers potential ambitions to attract a player like Xherdan Shaqiri.
Stoke could be set for a battle to keep hold of arguably their star man mid-season, and will hope that they can kick-on from their 15th place spot in the league and climb into the top half come January.
