Derby County are apparently on the lookout for a new manager after sacking Nigel Pearson last week. Chris Powell has been placed in temporary charge and it’s unclear whether he will get an automatic promotion to the top job, and until that happens What Are The Odds looks at the contenders to become the Rams boss.
As mentioned, Chris Powell is the interim manager as the next manager process is seemingly underway. Ladbrokes are currently pricing him as the hot favourite to succeed Pearson with odds of 10/11 (1.91) - not really a lot of value for anyone looking to take advantage of the next Derby manage odds market, but it could be even shorter, so there appears to be a lingering doubt over what will happen to Powell next. Perhaps the club are waiting to give him a game or two in charge with the next game against Leeds United fast approaching at the iPro Stadium.
Former Rams defender Gary Rowett and current Birmingham City boss is next in the running, but odds of 5/2 (3.50) suggest there’s someway to go to make that happen. Birmingham are having a good season so far and compensation from a rival club could be sticking point for Derby.
In the mood for an outside bet or two? Well Glenn Hoddle and Billy Davies are both 25/1 (26.0) to take the Rams reigns, and both would seem incredibly unlikely.
