Michy Batshuayi next club odds - Odds tumble on striker's exit amid interest

Tue, 16 May 2017, 6:10

Michy Batshuayi will forever go down in Chelsea history to be the man who scored the goal to seal the Blues fifth Premier League title in a 1-0 win at West Brom. However, the Belgian international is on the fringes of Antonio Conte’s side and What Are the Odds looks at the club interested in making a summer bid for the striker.

The Belgian was previously linked with a move across London to West Ham and according to the Daily Star they want him once again this summer. It’s a logical move for a club wanting to be ‘on the up’ in the Premier League and there’s no doubt they can boast one of the league’s most impressive looking stadiums and infrastructures. The move would likely have to make up most of what Chelsea purchased Batshuayi for last summer, which was in the region of £30m. Currently the Hammers are the front-runners should he sold and Sky Bet offer odds of 5/1 (6.00) on the move going through.

Marseille are backed by wealthy owners and made Dimitri Payet their January transfer window marquee signing and there’s no doubt they will want to do the same this summer to boost their chances of catching up to the likes of Monaco and PSG in Ligue 1. It would seem that the French club like to re-sign former players and having only left the club last summer it appears that they want him back - but would Batshuayi want to make a return to a club that he may have perceived as a stepping stone just a year ago? Odds of 12/1 (13.0) are currently on-offer.

Monaco on the other-hand would present a completely different option and make a return to France more viable, with the promise of more finances and Champions League football. With the French Riviera side set to be crowned champions ahead of PSG the promise of playing in one of the most attractive squads in Europe would definitely appeal to many of the world’s top players; so odds of 14/1 (15.0) present real value if the Belgian sees his future outside of England.

Some other interesting options are Arsenal at 20/1 (21.0) and Everton at 25/1 (26.0), with the future of manager Arsene Wenger up in the air it would seem to be a bit of gamble for Michy Batshuayi to commit to a move and only to find a new manager in-charge who doesn’t fancy him. Everton on the other hand, if national teammate Romelu Lukaku leaves, would give him the chance to cement the number one striker position for his own and join a club that is looking to break the Premier League’s current top six.

Some outside options include Swansea City at 33/1 (34.0), a club that were very close to clinching a loan-deal for him back in January, and having confirmed another season at the top level working for the highly successful coach Paul Clement could be an appealing option. While also at 33/1 (34.0) are newly-promoted Newcastle United, who too would be attractive with the successful boss Rafa Benitez and the promise of around £100m to spend this summer.

Despite the speculation it could be that the 2016/17 Premier League winner could choose to stay at Chelsea, especially if Diego Costa departs and current odds of 1/4 (1.25) suggest it’s the most likely option.
