Bournemouth’s Lewis Grabban, who is currently on-loan at lowly Championship side Sunderland is being lined-up with a move elsewhere this month. Impressive form and plenty of goals for the Black Cats is ramping up the interest - so What Are The Odds looks at Lewis Grabban next club odds in this January transfer window.
The favourites to bring in the now 29-year old striker are Championship title challengers Wolverhampton Wanderers. Slim odds of 5/2 (3.50) with bookmaker BetVictor suggests it’s a transfer rumour that has legs and if any club in the Championship can persuade parent-club Bournemouth to sell then it would be Wolves. With 12 league goals in 19 appearances - Wolves will feel that Grabban can add the firepower necessary to get the Midlands club over the line against their promotion-challenging rivals, whilst also striking even more fear into the rest of the division.
Fulham and Cardiff are both backed at 4/1 (5.00) and both would likely give Grabban the opportunity to be a leading striker in their first elevens. Cardiff would likely represent the more attractive option with the Welsh capital side battling at the very top of the table, but a return to his hometown of London with Fulham could ultimately be more appealing for the on-loan striker.
Interestingly at 6/1 (7.00) and maybe the biggest outside bet, is Newcastle United. It’s no secret that the struggling Premier League club need more firepower, but would Grabban be able to translate his form for arch-rivals Sunderland in the Championship relegation zone for the Premier League survival scrap? Magpies fans aren’t likely to be overwhelmed with being linked to a 29-year old Championship goalscorer, especially with the club on the verge of a takeover and bigger names being linked.
Aston Villa at 12/1 (13.0) makes sense for Steve Bruce’s side and proven goalscorer at this level could be just what’s needed to finally get the former Premier League side back in the big time. The same logic applies to clubs like Leeds and Derby at 14/1 (15.0) as well as Norwich City at 16/1 (17.0). All are in with a chance of playoff places or automatic promotion and investing now could be the difference at the end of the season.
