He may not be the big summer signing that many club fans are hoping to see or even the first name on the wishlist but Brentford’s Spanish star Jota is undoubtedly a player that is catching plenty of interest, both in Britain and overseas. What Are The Odds looks at where the 26-year could end up after the transfer window slams shut.

Derby County are the current favourites at 9/4 (3.25) to sign the attacker this summer, but according to the Derby Telegraph a move will be hard to push through due to Brentford’s unwillingness (and potentially the player’s) to move to another rival Championship club. Bee’s boss Dean Smith was quoted as saying that the player wouldn’t want to play against Brentford next season if he were to leave.
So this leaves the door open to a Premier League or overseas switch - enter Burnley who are just behind the Rams with odds of 9/2 (5.50), admittedly there’s some way to go according to these odds from Sky Bet bookmaker for a deal to come to fruition. However, with the intent and interest of so many clubs it looks likely to leave Brentford without their star man next season, but ultimately they will be hoping to cash-in big.
Newcastle are probably the most attractive option in the market if there’s suddenly movement, plus boss Rafa Benitez was apparently given a £100m transfer kitty, which would mean the asking price would likely be no issue. 7/1 (8.00) odds mean there’s potential, but with no public interest declared it’s understandable the bookmaker price is where it currently is. The Spanish connection and the brand of football that the Magpies hope to bring to the Premier League would appeal to a player of Jota’s ability.
West Ham United and Swansea City are both backed at 9/1 (10.0) to clinch a deal for the Spaniard and a move to either club would make a lot of sense, with both clubs looking to play expansive, passing football.
According to Get West London, the player is looking to remain in London, which would indeed play into the hands of the Hammers who are the only club at the top of the market who are based in the capital, and it’s been reported on a number of occasions that Slaven Bilic’s side are interested in the 26-year old, so it could be that a move across to the east side of London will happen by the transfer window end.
Fast transfer moving Everton are also monitoring the situation and are backed at 16/1 (17.0), along with Nottingham Forest who are unlikely to be able to afford the player’s fee and wages at this point. Leicester are an interesting outside bet at 20/1 (21.0) and it’s no secret they have the cash to spend after having a £40m bid rejected for Icelandic star Gylfi Sigurdsson. Norwich are the biggest of all the outsiders and look an underwhelming choice, even before looking at their huge 25/1 (26.0) odds to sign Jota.
