Newcastle United’s captain Jamaal Lascelles has led the line for Rafa Benitez’s side in their Premier League return this season and the club are close to ensuring their spot in the top-flight for another season. However, that may no be enough for the club to hold on to their captain next season with Jamaal Lascelles next club odds hotting up amid links to some of the Magpies Premier League rivals.

According to the Newcastle Chronicle it’s West Ham United who are showing the most interest in the 24-year old, but will only be in contention should they survive relegation at the end of the season. The report does go on to say that if a bid is to be made, then Newcastle will get an offer in the region of £15m for Lascelles. However, the captain has a number of years left on his contract and Benitez will likely want to see clubs pay a premium for the talisman.

Lascelles has recently missed out on call ups to the England senior squad ahead of the World Cup and is likely to miss out completely for the tournament this summer, so a move to one of the Champions League clubs next season is possible, despite the Hammers leading the way in the market.

Liverpool could provide that platform for the defender, and the Reds still looking a bit short on quality in defence. Odds of 5/1 (6.00) on Lascelles moving to Anfield in the summer could be the more realistic option for the Magpies captain, if he is to go on and take a regular spot in the England squad, as well as almost assured Champions League football.

Chelsea and Spurs are both a bit further back in the running at 8/1 (9.00) apiece to sign Lascelles next. Both teams are likely to be relatively busy in the transfer window this summer, with Chelsea especially in need of new blood in the backline - with Gary Cahill seeing his Premier League playing time cut down this season at the age of 32.
