Norwich City are looking to clear out some players in this month’s transfer window and one of those tipped to depart Carrow Road is striker Cameron Jerome. Having not featured in a Championship game for Norwich since December, the majority of Jerome’s appearances this season have come from the bench and as a result has seen a return of just two goals. The player the Canaries valued at £3m last summer is now tipped to leave for around £1.5 - £2m this month. So who’s the frontrunner?
Derby County are reportedly showing the most interest and are short odds of 1/1 (2.00) to get a deal done. Manager Gary Rowett has led the Rams to second in the table and knows that added experience in the form of Jerome could help get the east Midlands club back to the top tier of English football again.
However, in complete contrast to Derby, relegation threatened Birmingham City are next in the market at 3/1 (4.00) to bring back their former player to help them stave off dropping down to League One next season. Jerome played for Birmingham between 2006 and 2011 before being sold for around £4m to Stoke City.
Another former club and current promotion chasers Cardiff City are also in the mixer to re-sign Cameron Jerome. With odds of 6/1 (7.00) it’s unlikely with other frontrunners seemingly more interested and in an advanced transfer position, but manager Neil Warnock will know that experience counts towards the conclusion of a season with so much riding on it.
Aston Villa at 8/1 (9.00) might look at the availability and consider a cheap back-up option striker, but again a lack of interest would seemingly see Jerome end up elsewhere - considering he would likely choose a club he can get regular football.
Other interesting options all backed at 16/1 (17.0) are Nottingham Forest, Leeds United, Reading and Preston North End.
