24-year old Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga has been courting attention from rival Championship clubs as of late and What Are The Odds looks at the possible contenders to sign the striker.

Recent reports, including from local news source the Nottingham Post, are suggesting that Middlesbrough are interested in signing the proven Championship marksman. With 14 in 32 league outings this past season, in a struggling Nottingham Forest side, a club of Boro’s ambitions under new boss Garry Monk would make sense for the striker to switch to this summer. Odds of 11/10 (2.10) are currently available on a switch to the Riverside, and that’s actually shorter priced than him staying at the City Ground with odds of 6/5 (2.20) on-offer at Sky Bet bookmaker.
The market for Assombalonga’s next club shows the disparity between the rest of the clubs linked to his signature, with the next best available odds being 8/1 (9.00), and that’s a switch to Championship strugglers Wolves who are now under new management with Nuno Espírito Santo.
It would be difficult to make a case for such a move, except the likely pay-rise, but it would seem at this stage that the striker would only move to a club with automatic promotion potential or to a club in a higher division e.g. the English Premier League.
Marco Silva’s Watford are an interesting outsider choice at 10/1 (11.0), with the former Hull boss impressing in getting better performances out of his squad in the second half of the season, it would seem working for Silva could well be an appealing prospect for Assombalonga.
Two other Championship promotion hopefuls in the form of Derby County at 12/1 (13.0) and Sunderland at 20/1 (21.0) are next in the running and both would likely view the striker as ‘guaranteed Championship goals’ and such a player is few and far between in the current market. Both clubs are also going through transitional phases in terms of squad and even staff personnel (with the Black Cats still yet to appoint a successor to David Moyes), so a move may escalate or fade away - but for now both clubs continue to be linked.
