Swansea’s star defender Alfie Mawson has been one of the standout performers in the past couple of seasons at the Liberty Stadium, amid fighting relegation in the Premier League. With a call-up to the England national squad the 24-year old is once again drawing interest from some of the best in the top flight. What Are The Odds looks at the Alfie Mawson next club odds ahead of the transfer window this summer.
The favourites according to the bookmaker Sky Bet are Tottenham who are backed at 6/4 (2.50). Spurs have in recent years been fans of taking players from Swansea to London, with Michel Vorm, Ben Davies and Fernando Llorente making the switch to the English capital. With recent doubts over the future of Toby Alderweireld at Tottenham, it’s little wonder that Mauricio Pochettino would be interested in Mawson who has been solid in defence, as well as picking up the odd goal since moving from Barnsley.
Everton too are no strangers to spending on Swansea talent, with defender Ashley Williams making the move to Goodison Park, and if the odds are any indication then Alfie Mawson could be a strong contender for a move to the Toffees. Priced at 8/1 (9.00) there’s an obvious gap between them and Spurs as to who’s leading the way for his signature, but should targets change then big Sam Allardyce could be the man to persuade the 24-year old to leave south Wales.
Arsenal and Liverpool have been been linked to new defender signings this upcoming transfer window, with both sides looking to strengthen and push for silverware next season. As such, the Reds and the Gunners are 16/1 (17.0) apiece to sign Alfie Mawson next.
Then again all of this could just be speculation and Mawson is actually tipped to remain at Swansea City next season with odds of 11/10 (2.10) on-offer.
