Matchbook is a good exchange but only showing events 48 hours for many sports is more frustrating than it is beneficial, and it’s a unique one for a reason. Matchbook offers live streams, a good and navigable site with a great mobile product too. It needs to extend its horse racing offering and fast if it’s to ever rival the likes of Betfair as a top exchange.
Commission is low and superior to its rivals and the sign up offer is solid too, it’s a good idea to have an account with each of the main four betting exchanges so you’re able to check and compare lay odds before you bet.

The £50 Matchbook Bonus Cash Back has been available to new customers from November 2016 with no end date yet announced. There are, as always, certain terms and conditions which must be met prior to customers being able to take advantage of this Matchbook free bet, and you can read all about these below.
This offer only applies to customers that make their first deposit with a credit or debit card. This offer only applies to new customers from the following countries: Australia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom.
Matchbook does not offer the same range of betting markets as the major Betfair Exchange does, but it offers a solid depth of options within those it includes. The following list is the sports which you can bet on with Matchbook and remember that Matchbook only puts up events 48 hours in advance for many of its sports:
Matchbook puts its markets up 48 hours in advance meaning that when you access the site, the amount of sports coverage may look lacking but in actuality it’s largely for this reason only.
Matchbook also offers Politics markets and entertainment markets such as betting on movies, awards and current events. Matchbook has only recently started to accept bets on horse racing, but it has confirmed that it is invested in extending this and that it will be coming sooner rather than later.

With its sponsorship of Brentford FC Matchbook is pushing to be big on football and get more casual fans betting on exchanges. Referring to it as Soccer on its site isn’t going to win it any immediate fans but it does mean it stands out a little. You can bet on footballing competitions taking place in the following locations with Matchbook:
You can also wager on european competitions and internationals.
Matchbook began offering some limited horse racing markets on the Cheltenham Festival in 2016 and intends to continue to add to this in the future. For now it’s few and far between and you’re far better served betting on the horses elsewhere but do check back, because Matchbook is determined to improve this sooner rather than later.
Matchbook offers a pretty comprehensive customer support with live chat, email and phone all possible. The Matchbook live chat operators are live between the hours of 9am and 3am GMT Monday to Sunday, and initial response times are fast though in terms of dealing with issues this can take considerably longer with lengthy hold periods. The live chat is not one click from the home page as the best bookmakers offer, instead you have to click through a couple of options for it to be launched.
Via email you can message firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance and the numbers to call are (+353) 21 242 8626 or (+44) 203 642 6867. Matchbook also allows post by way of its address seen here.

As a betting exchange Matchbook allows you to place back bets, ie. bet on something to happen and to place lay bets, ie. bet on something not to happen. It also offers the usual range of betting options such as over/under, 1x2, multiples and many more such as asian handicap betting.
The Matchbook Colossus feature adds an exciting bonus to the exchange. There are a few options within this betting pool feature; players can choose from the Colossus Pick 7, the 1x2 Pick 15 and the Millionaire Pick 6. The first has the biggest prize pool at $10,000,000 but you must correctly predict seven scores to win, there are consolation prizes for those that get five or six correct.
The 1x2 Pick 15 may appear simpler as you pick the match result not score but you have to make 15 correct selections to win a $1,000,000 prize. The final option sees players trying to pick correct scores for a smaller but still pretty attractive pool of $2,000,000.
There’s a players guide in the site which more than adequately guides the uncertain through this unfamiliar betting territory.
Matchbook also includes a Smart Pick system for the lazy or hopeful in which scores are picked for you, and all you have to do is select the number of entries you wish to make. A single entry costs £2.
Partial cash out is available on the Matchbook Colossus and there are extensive rules which you can read in full by clicking here and hitting the Rules tab on the left.
Matchbook allows punters to bet on events whilst they’re in-play and the time delay on the markets ranges from one to ten seconds. You can still back or lay bets in-play with Matchbook, but Matchbook does not offer cash outs on bets as it’s an exchange.
Matchbook does however provide some live streaming which can be seen under the live betting tab on the site. It’s quite limited, there are no live streams on horse racing for example due to Matchbook’s very limited betting options on the sport currently. Matchbook live streaming varies depending on event but includes football and other more popular sports.
The Matchbook site is aimed at providing a simple and straightforward betting experience. As mentioned, aside from major sporting events, only the sports with events in the next 48 hours are listed down the left hand side meaning that whilst this is somewhat limiting, it ensures a cleaner site.
The site is also designed quite differently to the majority of sportsbook as it has no tabs dictating major sports offered or in-play betting horizontally on the main page; only Lounge, Help & Learning, Partner Program and Account. The Help & Learning section is the most comprehensive; it includes concise and useful sections on everything you need to know about to start betting on an exchange such as an explanation of commissions, back vs lay odds explained and much more. This same section also includes FAQs, background on Matchbook as a company, baking options, customer support options, rules and regulations and links to Matchbook social media accounts.
Next to Help & Learning there’s a Partner Program option which details information about the affiliate program the exchange runs, whilst on the far right there’s Account which shows you how much you have in your account, your betting history including current open bets and you can also amend your display preferences here such as language and odds type.
Matchbook also includes a search bar on its main page to make navigation easier and faster and the Recommended Markets is a handy personalised tool. To the right of this is the bet slip which shows all matched bets and unmatched bets you have at any one time.
You can save your favourite betting markets with Matchbook’s Shortlist option which gives you a more personalised experience. You just have to look out for the star icon to add a certain market to a shortlist, you’re not limited to just one and can have multiple shortlists with different titles of your choosing. Currently Matchbook operates a dual wallet system, one for casino, sports and colossus bets and another for horse racing. These will be merged into a single wallet but currently there are two and both will be clearly visible in your account section.
The minimum bet amount on Matchbook is quite high at $/£/€2.00.
Matchbook offers its services on mobile by way of apps for Android and iOS respectively. Somewhat uniquely too Matchbook also offers an app for the Apple Watch, this is something Betfred do too but few others.
The Matchbook mobile app is great for betting on the go, you can peruse markets quickly and simply and it’s well designed for its purpose.
The Matchbook sign up bonus is great but beyond that the exchange doesn’t offer customers too much more in the way of attractive bonuses. There is a separate Matchbook casino bonus but for those that prefer sticking to sports and entertainment betting, there’s little in the way to entice you to stick with Matchbook after utilising your first free lay and back bet bonuses.
This is one area in which Matchbook needs to improve to compete and customer retention should improve accordingly.
Matchbook Visibility Matchbook agreed a deal with Brentford FC to become the club’s official title shirt sponsor in 2015, this followed a smaller agreement with the club which began the season prior. This allowed Matchbook branding on the roof of the club’s Griffin Park ground.
Brentford FC Chief Executive Mark Devlin said of the deal at the time: “I am delighted that Brentford Football Club has been able to build on our existing relationship with Matchbook.com and welcome them as our Official Shirt Partner for the forthcoming season.
Matchbook’s spokesperson Roibeard Long had this to say: “Value, entertainment, customer engagement and success are central to Brentford FC. These values make them an ideal partner for us and the perfect platform from which to display our brand."
On social media Matchbook runs accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. The Matchbook Twitter, @TeamMatchbook, has over 23,000 followers and is full of blogs, promotions and sports news. The Matchbook Facebook has over 25,000 Likes and posts a lot of video content as well as sporting news.
There is a Matchbook blog which has betting previews on mostly football and occasionally golf and other sports. These are betting focused and include a top recommended bet meaning you can only skim read it should you so wish. This blog section is under the Lounge tab where you can also find access to the Matchbook Forum once you have a live account.
Then all you need to do is create a forum username and you’re able to discuss betting markets, predictions and more with other Matchbook members. This is a great part of the site and gives it that community feel that it’s aiming for more than any other feature. For maximum effect though it needs to be promoted more as it isn’t used too regularly or widely for now.
Matchbook is one of the big four sports betting exchanges which also includes Betfair, SMarkets and Betdaq. It’s licensed and regulated by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) and the UK Gambling Commission.
Betting exchanges, which have been widely criticised by traditional betting operators and the horse racing industry in particular, charge a commission on bets which is how they make their money. Matchbook charges a 1% commission, though for customers in both the UK and Ireland this was increased to a 1.15% commission from December 2014 and August 2015 respectively.
The Matchbook sign up offer is in the form of a £50 bonus Cash Back.
