BETDAQ has grown to become the second largest betting exchange, it’s an excellent place to bet on horse racing, football and American sports. It offers a decent sign up offer though there are far better out there, however the extended promotions such as the Virtual Sports Bet £10, Get £10 are strong additions.
The BETDAQ mobile app is a brilliant addition to its repertoire making is a top place to bet on the go, and the site design keeps things simple. It’s great for casual punters from an educational point of view via the BETDAQ tips and is equally strong for those looking to up their game and professionalise with the BETDAQ trader tools.
The BETDAQ sign up offer gives you £25 in free bets but first you must open an account, deposit and earn four exchange points. To qualify for the offer a customer must earn 4 Commission Points within the first six months of registering. One Commission Point is awarded for every £/€25($40) won or lost on Exchange markets.
This means that a customer must win or lose a total of £/€100 ($160) to qualify for the £25 free bet. This free bet will then be awarded after these terms have been met within 72 hours and credited to the account. Note that the free bets must be used within 14 days of being allocated or they’ll be voided.
This promotion is not for everyone, it isn’t available to residents of Burkino Faso, Latvia and any BETDAQ excluded territory.
A step by step walkthrough is sometimes handy, here’s how to get your hands on the BETDAQ free bet in a simple five step program.
As a betting exchange you are betting against other punters on BETDAQ. This differs to a traditional sportsbook in which you’re betting against ‘the house’.
BETDAQ runs a decent number of markets across the major which is no surprise given that it’s the largest betting exchange after the giant of Betfair. It doesn’t include so many niche sports but it’s great on football, horse racing, cricket and American sports too.
Every sport you can bet on at BETDAQ is listed here:
There are also betting options on BETDAQ Politics and BETDAQ Virtual Sports.
BETDAQ is big on cricket, indeed BETDAQ cricket is a great offering including extensive markets, good odds and promotions too.
With its headquarters in Ireland BETDAQ is obviously big on football and it has in the past sponsored Celtic FC, no doubt in large part due to the link between company founder Dermot Desmond and the Scottish giants.
Political betting is on the rise and BETDAQ Politics markets are a little limited. They could do a lot more and offer more extended markets and it’s a surprise that they don’t with parent company Ladbrokes one of the very best out there in terms of political betting.
In 2012 BETDAQ launched a microsite dedicated to the NFL (BETDAQNFL) which offered a great experience for NFL fans - a live video stream featuring commentary straight from the US. It also included extensive match previews and analysis from John Arnette. At the time Shane McLaughlin, then Marketing Director at BETDAQ, said: “The popularity of American Football in the UK and Ireland is bigger than ever and we saw the need to offer punters a dedicated NFL site where they can get tips and information direct from NFL experts in the USA. NFL is a great sport for in-running betting with huge swings in prices and we're playing our part by giving punters access to live betting analysis and tips as the games are going on.”
There’s a separate @BETDAQNFL Twitter account run by John Arnette. With the increasing popularity of the NFL and Tottenham’s stadium set to host some games, BETDAQ are well placed to reap the rewards of getting in early.
BETDAQ also offers extensive markets in basketball and baseball.
As an exchange you’re betting against other bettors on BETDAQ which means that you can back bets but also lay bets. You can bet on typical markets when backing such as 1x2, over/under, Asian Handicap and so on. BETDAQ also offers the usual multiples, singles and it includes the Colossus jackpot too.
BETDAQ offers in-play betting on a broad range of sports. It includes both live streaming, mostly horse racing events, and cash out as features which hugely enhances live betting. It’s particularly good for live betting on horse racing, and the lay out allows punters to easily view multiple events due to start in the near future.
BETDAQ offers cash out which gives it an advantage over rival Smarkets. It gives punters more flexibility with their betting which is always a good thing.
The simple purple and white theme makes it stand out, and the BETDAQ exchange provides an easy to use product which punters are able to familiarise themselves with quickly. There’s a BETDAQ Tips tab which takes you to a separate microsite featuring previews and great complimentary content. This site features pieces from ambassadors Donn McClean, Tony Cascarino and Hayley Turner and whilst the site could be better laid out, it is one of the best in terms of regular and in-depth betting content.
There’s a search bar so if you know exactly what you’re looking for you can bypass the navigational stage. You can check your account and your bets easily by clicking on the drop-down bar on your username, and the site isn’t drowning in offers and promotions which allows you to maintain your attention and avoid distraction - something that is amiss on many online sportsbooks.
The Promotions tab is handy and regularly updated so you can always check the latest BETDAQ offers, whilst the Trading Tools feature is aimed quite strictly at far more professional punters and indeed it’s likely to scare off casual bettors. It takes you to another microsite; www.betdaqtraders.com and is a downloadable software aimed at teaching you how to become a trader. Some tools are free such as the Bet Angel and Geeks Toy whilst more advanced forms you pay a subscription fee. The best thing to do is try it out for free if you’re keen, and see how you like it before agreeing to a subscription. It’s a great addition to the site and if you’re serious about betting, and making it more than a form of casual entertainment, it could be worth some looking into. The hashtag of #SeriousAboutBetting says it all. One of the points of exchanges is that they are betting educational communities and this is something BETDAQ excels at.
Overall the site is functional more than flashy but doesn’t seem outdated; it strikes a great balance between the two. One minor issue is that load times could be improved and it’s not the most responsive, this is one area in which sportsbook can compete too with apps and live betting meaning customers can be demanding.
BETDAQ mobile allows customers to bet on the go, when they want and how they want. This is made much easier by the availability of the BETDAQ app on both Android and iOS. You’re able to utilise all the top BETDAQ features such as cash out, live streaming and more. It is truly a great option for live betting.
BETDAQ customer support is at hand should you need assistance or have any questions or queries. It’s available via live chat, email and over the phone. The numbers to call depend on where you’re from and they can be seen below:
IRE 01 673 3360
UK : 08701781 021
International : +353 1 673 3360
The BETDAQ live chat isn’t the most easily accessible and could be far more clear. It’s also pretty limited in terms of access times and is only available 10am to 6pm each day. Many customers bet in the evenings meaning that when they want to place bets, there’s no live chat to help. Other exchanges and sportsbooks run far more reliable live chat systems. There’s a Help tab on the right hand side which includes a good FAQ section wherein you’re able to search for your query. You can email via the online form.
BETDAQ became the official betting partner of Celtic FC in July 2011. Sky Sports pundit Alan McInally, who was a brand ambassador at the time, announced the deal at a ceremony at Celtic Park.
BETDAQ is also big on horse racing and has had its fair share of sponsorships in the field. In January 2011 a six figure deal was signed with Kempton Park Racecourse. This allowed an interesting privilege for BETDAQ account holders to enter the races for free on Wednesday nights. In addition it saw BETDAQ as the sponsor of 176 races that year. In 2012 the exchange extended its sponsorship of Jockey Club racecourses and this saw the extension of the BETDAQ Wednesday Winner Series. The new racecourses included Carlisle, Exeter, Huntingdon, Market Rasen, Nottingham, Warwick and Wincanton.
Paul Fisher, Group Managing Director of Jockey Club Racecourses, said at the time: “We are delighted to have come to this agreement with a high profile betting exchange in BETDAQ which is demonstrating its continuing commitment to British horse racing. As a Group we can offer major partners the scale they are looking for and we look forward to an ongoing partnership.”
If you were thinking that BETDAQ limits its sponsorships to football and horse racing though, you’d oh so very wrong. The exchange agreed a deal with London Irish Rugby Club in 2011 which saw the brand logo displayed on the backs of the official shirts.
Former Republic of Ireland international Tony Cascarino, who played for Chelsea, Aston Villa and Marseille amongst others, was a BETDAQ ambassador and provided tips on the site.
The exchange maintains a strong social media presence, there’s a BETDAQ Twitter channel which has a pretty good following in excess of 13,600. It’s gambling and tipping focused which may seem obvious but many typical bookmakers spend far too much time trying to be funny on their social media accounts and fail to actually offer good betting advice, previews and promotions.
When it comes to promotions BETDAQ has a healthy appetite. In addition to the sign up offer there’s a range of additional BETDAQ bonuses to try out for yourself though note that whilst these are accurate at the time of writing, they are subject to change!
You can always have a quick word with a friendly BETDAQ live chat advisor to steer you in the right direction if you’re unsure.
There’s a Virtual Sports promotion to try and get punters to give it a go, this is in the form of a Bet £10, Get £10 and there’s another one which offers a 50% return on commission.
BETDAQ is an online betting exchange which was launched at the turn of the millennium and started trading in September 2001. It operates as BETDAQ under the trading company Global Betting Exchange Alderney Limited (GBEA). It charges a commission rate of 5% on winning bets which is equal to Betfair but higher than challengers to the marketplace Smarkets and Matchbook.
It’s based in the Irish capital of Dublin and is the second largest betting exchange after Betfair with a 7% market share. Having been acquired by Ladbrokes in 2013 for a fee believed to be in the region of €30m, it now has over 200 employees worldwide. Irish businessman Dermot Desmond is the company founder. Desmond is estimated to be worth €1.35bn and he has had a number of other business ventures far removed from the world of gambling including e-commerce firms, a resort in Barbados, a food company called Greencore and he was also the owner of the London City airport for a period before selling it on for a reportedly very healthy profit in 2006. He’s also been a major shareholder in both Celtic FC and Manchester Utd.
The BETDAQ new customer offer is inviting and gives you £25 in free bets after you earn your first four exchange points. This can be a little confusing, especially those new to betting exchanges and so we’ve explained it in full below.
